I just cut an hour and a half concert for pay per view, and believe it or not the only specs I was given was highest resolution quicktime. I provided an Avid Meridean Same as source file- 115 gigs. The person in charge of uploading the file balked- its too large, I cant use this, it needs to be in the animation codec. Made a new quicktime in the Animation codec, hey, its 155 gigs.

I have a hunch that my first quicktime was fine,

Has anyone out there done this type of delivery? Ive got to believe these Pay Per View people can receive quicktimes in the Avid Meridean Codec.

I learned a good lesson. Get specs in writing. Anyone know anything out there about this? Help!

I have a hunch you’re right as well. Sounds as though this guy has no idea what he’s doing. Sorry I have no answers. Just a comment 🙂

I wouldn’t assume that the client can use a QT in Avid Meridian codec, especially if they have only servers to feed the material and no edit systems. I have not seen a content delivery server that uses Avid or Animation codecs. Most want MPEG-2/4 program or transport streams plus one of dozens of variations for the audio.

Always get the specs in writing. We don’t accept this kind of job (no matter how much they beg) unless we get the spec sheet for the server the customer wants to use.
