    hi there,
i did a quick search, no results. it seems to be a pretty straight forward thing, but i can’t find the answer…
does anyone know how to pause your ram preview on the frame currently being played.
ie. you’re playing back your composition (under ram preview) and the client says, “stop it there!” so your press spacebar/0 but it jumps back to the frame where you last had the cursor, before you started the ram preview. not particularly handy.
is there a known keyboard shortcut out there??

not sure off the top of my head … but if you hit the ‘*’ on the keypad while it’s playing it will place layer markers on the fly ….

yeah, that’s the best work around i’ve been able to come up with too. it’s just an extra bit of fiddling around i thought could be eradicated…but maybe not.

hm, but if we want to watch back an animation to a piece of music and pause it at a particular frame, then it’s hard to achieve smooth real-time playback using scrubbing, even if you have ram previewed. or perhaps there’s another way to scrub apart from just dragging the time indicator through the composition with the mouse…?

    heh, fair enough.
i’ve just been switching between applications and cross using too much for my own good…

Using AE 6.5 and 7 I have always been able to pause my RAM preview on the current frame using the space bar, However I just switched to AE CS3 and it jumps back to the first frame that the RAM preview started. What gives?

LOL, sorry but that is the wrong answer. He is looking for something to stop the preview while you are previewing it in real time.
