  • Pause a frame for 2 seconds?

Posted by John Isaacks on June 22, 2009 at 1:45 pm

There are specific points in my timeline on a specific comp that I would like the play head to pause at for about 2 seconds. The compositions inside this are to keep playing just this one pause at certain points….does that make sense? Say for example compB is inside compA, at frame 200 I want compA’s play head to stop for 2 seconds before moving forward, but compB can keep playing.

Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks!!!

I assume Comp A and Comp B are sitting inside another comp (Comp C), in which case, use Time Remapping on Comp A to pause it while Comp B continues to merrily play.

No no no, combB is INSIDE compA…. I want the compA to stop but if there is any comps inside compA I want them to go ahead an play.

you won’t be able to have compA stop playing but still have any nested comps within compA keep playing….

you’ll need to go into compA and use time remapping to make what ever parts need to freeze, freeze, leaving all other nested comps/elements alone, or you’ll need to remove all the nested comps and other elements from compA that you don’t want to have freeze, bring them all back into a new comp and then just freeze compA.

essentially all the elements that you want to freeze will need to be in the same comp, any elements that you don’t want to freeze will need to be separate from the freeze comp (either as separate layers or a separate comp). if you don’t have too many layers that you want to freeze, then you might be able to just freeze those elements individually, but it will most likely be easier to have them in a single comp and use time remapping on that comp.
