Paths from mattes or a stroke round a moving figure
Is it possible to change a matte into a path? I have some animated figures which I have seperate black and white mattes for (no gradation just pure black and pure white) and I want to put a black stroke around the original figures as they move across the screen. I feel sure there must be a way to use the stroke effect with these mattes but I just can’t work it out. Is is possible, or is there another way to get my desire stroke effect without rotoscoping?

Use the auto-trace function. It will outline the matte and turn it into masks.
