  • Patch modeling in C4D?

Is this possible to do without buying a third party plug-in?

I am a little more comfortable using patches for modeling than the box-modeling method.

For discussion sake, let’s say we are going to build a simple shoe, no laces. It consist of 3 parts.
    rubber bottom
    front canvas
    back canvas

The 3 pieces are created by lofting and extruding splines.

How do you connect the “patches” together?

    Thanks,
    TH

There are a couple of plugins, but it’s not possible natively without converting the lofts to polygons. Of course you *can* convert them to polygons and then connect them to your heart’s content.

Thanks for setting the direction Adam.
You are always so helpful. I really appreciate your time.

    BTW
while I was laying down spines for guidelines, it occurred to me
that it would be very nice to be able to change the color of the splines. Is that possible?

    EDIT

    Cheers,
    TH

    RE
I spoke too quickly. This is easily down by dropping a material on the spline, just like everything else. Do not know
why I didn’t think of that right off hand.

    My pleasure. 😉

You can change a spline’s color in it’s Basic tab.
