  • Pasting masks for position keyframes and z space

    Hello,

I’m trying to create positional keyframes by copying a circular mask shape then pasting into the position property as keyframes. The catch is that I’m trying to make an object go around the circle in z-space. Imagine a butterfly flying around a flower.

I know that masks are always 2D, but I was wondering if there was a way to trick to rotating the position keyframes?

I imagine it has something to do with pre-comping or parenting to a null, but right now I’m drawing a blank.

    Thanks,
    Rob

The easiest way to do this would be to paste the keyframes in, then create a 3D Null object at the camera’s Point of Interest (i.e. the center of the rotation). Then parent the camera to the Null and rotate the Null 90 degrees on the X axis. Once your camera is rotating properly you can unparent the camera from the Null.
