Is there some way to give one obect the same properties of another like you can in FCP or AE?

I usually just duplicate the item and swap out the connected media. sort of a workaround but it works…

In the Properties tab of the Inspector, you can drag any parameter to another layer in the Layers tab to “paste” the value of that parameter. Drag the word “Transform” to drag all the transform parameters (position, scale, rotation, etc.) at once.
