Pasted Video Overlapping Existing Video Problem
OK, so I went ahead and upgraded from Vegas Pro 8.0 to Pro 10.0. Well, actually, I’m using the trial version of 10.0 but I already know I’m going to upgrade. Just thought I’d play with the 10’0 for a bit first.
I thought I had a good handle on all of the settings I used in 8.0 but apparently I don’t. In 8.0, I could have two instances of Vegas open. I could copy some video/audio from 1 and then go over to 2 and paste it. And I still can. However, in 8.0 it would paste the new video and move the existing video back in the timeline so they did not overlap. Now when I paste, it overlaps right over the existing video. I know there’s a setting to stop this but I’ve spent a couple hours looking for it and I can’t find it. Anyone?
Also, in the past using 8.0, if I cut out some video in the timeline, it would collapse the remaining video making a seemless timeline. Now, it just leaves the gap there and I have to move the video behind the cut, back to the front of the cut. Help? I thought I solved that by going to OPTIONS>PREFERENCES/EDITING and checking “Collapse Loop Region When no time selection is present” but that’s not it.
Also, in 8.0, let’s say I had 10 segments in the timeline. If I grabbed the first one and moved it back, it would take everything behind it and move it as well. Now it just overlaps the first segment over however many segments I moved segment one on top of. Ugh, I know this is all in the Preferences area but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Anyone?
Thanks in advance for your help.
