The only reason I can foresee to partition is if you are using it for editing uncompressed 1080i HD. Then you might want to lop off the inner 20% to save on the disk slow down when the array is 80% full. Although, Huge can do this automatically for you in the High Definition Turbo Mode. I hate to sound cliche, but it’s all in the manual.
i would suggest running Raid3. I had a drive go down the other day, and boy was I lucky I was running Raid3. Huge sent over a new drive overnight, I installed the new drive and it rebuilt itself in about an hour. I kept right on working throughout the whole process. You’ll be glad you spent the money on a nice array.
