    Greetings all!

Just got some 1gb G-raids – is there any advantage to partitioning them? Will this actually add any security to my data? Does it add any speed value to FCP?

    Thanks!

[macfreek] “is there any advantage to partitioning them?”

    No, but there are disadvantages.

[macfreek] “Does it add any speed value to FCP?”

If the drives are too fast and you want to slow down your read/writes to disk, then partition them.

Are there other disadvantages to slowing it down? Not that that is not reason enough not to do it…

    Thanks!

NO to all of the above

    it will decrease recovery chances,
slow read / write to the drives and slow scratch disk speed.
