    Hello,
    I have accomplished creating confetti (with some help of course) using Trapcode’s Particular, but…

    Is there a way to have the confetti first start off laying on a 3D plane (sort of like a table), then burst up and off of that 3D plane?
    As if confetti was laying on a piece of cardboard, and someone hit the cardboard underneath it, and the confetti went flying up in the air and starting floating around, then floats down? I thought maybe the “Emitting Particles from Layers” tutorial on Trapcode’s website would help, but I want to keep the particles my custom layer, so it still looks like confetti.

    Try reversing your clip. You could make a normal emitter, add a floor for the confetti to fall on, render the file and then play it in reverse in a new comp. This seems like the easiest way to do it anyway.

    Depending on the degree of realism you want, a simple layer emitter will do. You are wrong assuming that this would also affect the particle type – they are independent from each other and can be used in any combination. However, your Particles wont lie flat on the table as in real life since they have no volume. For that you would need more sophisticated simulation in a 3D program. The would even be so if you used a reversed animation. So neither gives you a perfect solution.

    Thanks so much! I guess it all depends on how much the client wants to pay.
