    What size is the jpeg? If you want to blow it up larger, 720 by 486 pixels may not cut it… may have to go to much larger sizes. And Jpeg is not the best graphics file format in the first place, just a popular one.

    Is the original artwork vector? If it was created in Photoshop, chances are that it is raster and not very high resolution. Your best bet is to create it in Illustrator and then bring it into AE as an illustrator or EPS file. If you only have Photoshop, recreate it in a large resolution – typically 3-4 times the needed size.
