Think of a sphere travelling along an ‘align to spline’ achieved by animating the position parameter.

What I want to do now is set an ’emitter’ at the start of the spine to fire copies (?clones) of the first sphere to follow along the spline. I don’t think this can be done with true particles. (? mograph)

I’ve played unsuccesfully with thinking particles ‘follow spline’ but I should have thought this would have been simpler.

I’d also like to put a bit of random wobble on the ‘particles’ as they flow along the spline.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks Alan

Yes, with non TP particles. Search the forums as this has been asked and answered probably 200 times. 😉

Hmmm, can’t find anything on getting non-thinking particles to follow a spline! Any ideas?

Okay, I found a bunch of threads :). Most of them have me in them from 2002, and some mention defunct plugins.

There are two results you could be talking about. 1) Particles emitted stay where they are along the spline. 2) Particles actually move along the spline.

Either way, it’s mograph now. I’m assuming you mean (2) above, so it’s a cloner in object mode set to a spline as its object. Animate the clones’ offset Then a random effector if you like so they’re not all on the spline itself. Mograph really beats the older TP solutions with a stick.

Thanks Govinda I’ll give that a go. I certainly didn’t have much luck with TP and TPfollow spline – not enough control.

Brilliant Govinda, just what I need. Perfect thenks.

I obviously need to do a lot more learning of Mograph.

    Thank you so much
