If you’re a fan of Battlestar Galactica on Sci-Fi, keep an eye out in tomorrow’s season finale episode. At least a couple of modified Pro Emitters are in there (effects work done by Zoic Studios). I won’t mention which emitters, because it will be fun to see if anybody can pick them out.

Also, a few episodes back when Apollo was drifting in space with a leak in his spacesuit, that leak was all particleIllusion. Not the most impressive effect, but essential to the storyline, and quite realistic I thought (although I’ve never seen an airleak in a spacesuit).

Cool. I saw that. I’ll be keeping my eyes open.

Hey, did they use pIllusion on the academy awards this year?

I believe that a make-up artist used Record Position to paint on Michelle Williams’ lipstick before helping her into a dress that came from the Abstract Pro-Emitters library.

OK, I think the mortar effects in the 1st few minutes are PI and possibly the “cold breath” effect (looked slightly digital, though much better than Titantic), from Starbuck and the other refugee’s also in the beginning segment.

Plus, are the warp-jump effects done in PI?

    How did I do Alan?

I thought the explosions were, with some 3d junk added.

I watched it, but like all really good shows, I totally forgot about the effects until the end, when it was too late.

    What were they?

I finally watched the episode, and even though I knew what to look for, there were so many other layers of effects on top of the pIllusion stuff that I couldn’t pick them out.

In the big explosion that destroys Cloud 9, a Pro Emitter “glass” emitter was used, as was a modified version of “Vbloom” (or something similar). I believe the glass emitter was used to “shatter” the big dome.
