  • Particle using sprites from multiple files

I wish to make a shower of logos to spray out from a point. I figured it would be a simple particle effect using sprites. That for the sprites I could pick a folder and it would grab all the PNGs inside.

I can’t figure a way to accomplish this though. I just have AE CS3 Professional with no additional plugins.

    Any help?

Make a comp with all logo’s,
make them 1 frame long, so if you have 20 logo’s, the comp will be 20 frames long.
Drag that comp into you other comp with the particles.
In your particle engine, select your logo-comp as the source and set your source-timing to “still frame – random”

    done !

JAN! That’ll work for Particular – which I don’t think the poster has. For Particle Playground it’s a lot more complicated.

Best is to check out my COW Tutorial here – https://library.creativecow.net/articles/kahlenberg_roland/game_pp.php

    oops,
trapcode’s plugin’s seem so standard to ae 😉

    For particle playgroud it’s not that different;
keep the precomp with the logo’s,
    and in Particle Playground:
    Layer Map: select the precomp
    Time Offset Type: Absolute random
Random Time Max: just tweak it !

    in Particle World:
    Particle Type: Textured Square
    Texture Layer: select the precomp
    Texture Time: Birth
    ……….

    same thing, different names

    or, watch your tutorial indeed,
a bit difficult for a beginner but the best way to learn.

[Jan Sherlink] “trapcode’s plugin’s seem so standard to ae ;-)”

Very true! [Jan Sherlink] “Time Offset Type: Absolute random Random Time Max: just tweak it !”

This one’s tricky. If you’re not careful, you’ll have particles die off cos unlike Particular, there is no loop function for LayerMaps/Custom Particles. Best is to set it low enough so that new particles live long enough (dependent on Lifespan).

    Hi, please can anybody help:

I am using Particle World and tried this with a 2 frame comp.
And I use this for a permanent particle field. But now there aren’t any particles at all.

First I successfully followed these steps to create a permanent particle field:
    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/1049035

Can anybody help how to get a permanent field with a 2 frame comp?
