Particle tear apart
There’s probly a good number of posts on this subject but my searches have revelaed nothing so…
I’ve been trying to figure out how to explode or tear apart an object into particles (think; “the mummy” or that old Michael Jackson video where Jacko turns into sand) but for the life of me cant come up with a solution..
I have some understanding of the volume tracer and thinking particles, is there a tutorial anywhere??? any help in the right direction would be very helpful.

You could use the Explosion deformer, or go with the option that will make you suffer and exult in hopefully equal portions, Thinking Particles.
And yes there is a tutorial for that using ‘PFragment’ by Paulselhi (as you can see in the thread, I did the tute myself):
