This actually isnt really an expression question, though it could involve an expression answer…i just seem to get teh quickest response when i post in here…

I was just wondering when using trapcodes particular, if there was any way to retrieve the position value of a single particle. Im building sort of a 2d looking molecular structure type thing in 3d space and i have some shape instanced orbs with particular and wanted to connect some of those with strokes, any suggestions?

Depending on how big and how static they are (image-wise, not postion), you might be able to track them.

Another possibility would be a sampleImage() expression, but it would need to be taylored for your set up.

If you think you could get by creating your particles not in Trapcode Particular but by hand, I have an idea that uses the toWorld() expression to hook up your particles with 3D Stroke.

Let me know if you would like more info. pxlguy[at]me[dot]com
