Hey Gang – I’m a Newbie to AE about to migrate to a new HD NLE with CS3 and PPro. I’m looking for some input on third party plugs that will allow me to add some simple “flash and trash” moves and effects to spots. Clients in the smaller markets love the eye candy behind car bars, price points, text, etc. urgh!

Looking for something similar to FCP’s Motion where I can call up a template, do a few quick tweaks and move on. Primarily interested in alpha particle type effects like bursts, explosions, lightning, lasers, zaps, etc. that can be dropped in behind text and logos

    Thanks!

    ~Mike~

AE comes with all the plugs you’ll need to generate that stuff but you’ll need a few weeks, maybe months, to figure out the application and then to create your collection of stock comps and pre-rendered elements. You might be better off having an external Macintosh running Motion if you need the Motions-like effects. You won’t get that same kind of preview performance from AE until you know how to drive it very well.

ArtBeats and Juice are endless sources for pre-made elements.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Particle Illusion is not a plugin, but it is fast, easy to integrate with After Effects, and comes with thousands of presets. Might be worth looking into.

Many thanks for the link Kevin. Particile Illusion is just the type of application I’m looking for to offer clients quick, out of the box effects.

    Thanks!
