  • Particle Playground – how do I change the type?

I am using CS3 trial and dealing with PP. I created a new solid and put the PP on it, but I can’t find a way to change the TYPE of particle. I thought there were choices like OVAL, CUBE, SPHERE etc, or maybe I am thinking of 3D programs?

You can use any layer’s content as particle cells. You have to select it in the layer map menu.
You can use shape layers as sources for particle playground, and thus easily get circles, ovals, rectangles, etc.
If you use a solid, remember to set the size to the actual content. If you want to use the output of an effect as particles, you’ll have to pre-comp the layer.

You can also try using CC Particle World. This allows you to change the Particle Type to various shapes such as squares, bubbles, spheres etc…
