Not soon. There will be a maintenance release with some bug fixes and new licensing, but no new features.

When you say new licensing, you mean the way we register the software once we install it? We will still be able to use this software on a system that does not have Internet access correct?

Yes, but you’ll still need access to the Internet to get the activation code as you do now. (You can activate using another computer)

I was also wondering how the underlying engine might develop.

Maybe a text engine?

Also integrated browsing\searching rather than having to run Particle View, and being able to search through all emitters without having to enter search terms. Similarly, would also be useful to be able to tag emitters, and also add to Favourites.

On the subject of feature requests:
If piAE could work in 3D space (similar to Particular), that would be amazing. And could totally blow Particular out of the water. My opinion. 🙂
