    Hi,

I’m trying to do some basic particle effects for a video. What I want to do is replace the ‘particles’ with an image.

I’m having trouble finding a basic program or plugin to do this. I’ve tried a flash animator program (KoolMoves) and it does have a particle plugin, but the options are very limited.

I tried Boris RED but that was just way too complicated. All I need is some basic pre-set effects that I can customize, and then output in an appropriate format that would retain transparency (that’s if I can’t find an actual Vegas plugin).

I tried ParticleIllusion, but the standalone program doesn’t work with Windows 7 and it seems the only alternative is a plugin for AE.

    Any suggestions?

Particle Illusion works perfect with windows 7 (I have windows 7-64 bits) on my computer and for what you describe that you want to do, it is your best option

Same here. I’m using particleIllusion 3 with Windows 7 64-bit and it’s working fine. Download the trial and see for yourself. The standalone version has more features than the AE plug-in so that’s the better one to get.
