  Partially obscure a layer whilst remaining underneath…?

  Hi everyone,

  Sorry if this is a bit incoherent, it’s quite late and though this may be very simple it’s melting my brain right now…

  It is possible to have an object simulataneously above AND below a second object? So it would be on top at one side and underneath at the other side. I know the puppet tool has an overlap feature, but I can’t seem to work out how do this with layers, apart from splitting images up but I ideally want to minimise the number of layers involved.
