I’m looking back at a project that I was working on long ago (but is not completely finished due to waiting for approval/review), and I discovered that half of one of my clips is missing audio. It’s a fairly long clip – 10 min or so, and the first half is fine, but then the audio just disappears. FCP still shows the waveform on the timeline AND in the viewer, but it won’t play so much as a single decibel. The audio meters don’t move. Same problem with the clip if I go back to the original Quicktime file and play in the Quicktime player – so I’m suspecting a recapture is necessary. Any ideas on why this happened? I’d like to keep it from happening again if possible. Or is it just one of the many illogical, unexplainable nonsensicalities of the computer-editing world.

    Sounds right.
