    Hi there, I’m adding a cheesy lens flare to 3D scene with 2D layering. At the moment I thought it wise to parent the flare to the sun in the sky so as my camera moves, the flare moves with the sun. This is the effect I want.

    But to have the flare move accurately along with its parent, I have to set the Z positions the same. This puts the flare behind all my other layers and obviously it should be overlaid across the whole screen

    Any advice or help? Maybe I’m taking the wrong approach?

    Maybe the flare should be on top and it’s position attribute ‘parent-pointing’ at the sky? I’m not sure how I’d go about that.

    The flare is a 2D effect, so you need to have it on a regular layer at the top of your comp. Then use this 3D expression from Dan Ebberts to have the lens flare stick to the light

    thisComp.layer(“Light 1”).toComp([0,0,0]);

    I cover it myself in this mini tutorial: https://youtu.be/xlYwhYXGsD8
