  • Parenting a shape layer to another shape layer’s shape path.

Sorry if the title sounds like a tongue twister, but I can’t figure this one out.

I’m using a shape layer as a track matte and wanted to retain the stroke path, so I duplicated the layer, removed the fill, and parented it to the main shape.

The only way I can animated the scale of the shape layer without affecting the width of my stroke is to use the shape path controls instead of transform controls. The problem is that I can only seem to parent my shape layer duplicate to the transform controls.

Does anyone know how I could parent to the shape path?

Here’s a picture of how I have it setup: https://imgur.com/a/jNdM8

    Thanks!

Would be easier to use the rectangle path size and position controls on both layers and link them.
