  • Parented Layers don’t seem to be moving correctly

Hi, I’m working in AE 24.5.0 Build 52 on a macbook pro 2019 (latest software updates).

I have some markers popping up on the map when I’ve zoomed in on Florida and I parented them to the map there. However, when the map zooms out, the markers seem to stay the same size and position and don’t adjust at all. Am I doing something wrong? I tried changing things so they were parented to a null layer but it didn’t seem to work any better. Thanks in advance for any help!

It’s hard to tell from what you’ve posted. Is the map zooming happening because you’re scaling the map layer, or is the scaling happening inside a map precomp, or is there a camera move involved? Unless you’re moving or scaling the layer that the markers are parented to, I wouldn’t expect them react.

Hey Dan, thanks for reaching out!

The map layer (that the markers are parented to) is zooming in because I’m scaling it up. The map is not a pre-comp and no cameras are in the comp either.

Can you post a screenshot of the timeline that includes the scale keyframes for the map layer?
