Parent null to object inside scaled subcomp
I run into this fairly often. I usually end up just putting all the layers in the subcomp, but I’d like to know if anyone’s found a solution.
I’m trying to parent a null to an object inside a scaled subcomp. To reproduce the environment I’m talking about, creata a null in a new project, animate it around the screen. Now subcomp it, and scale the subcomp to 50%. Now make a new null in the main timeline and parent that null to the null inside the subcomp. You’ll see it doesn’t follow the on-screen position of the subcomp null but the original position of where the null would be.
Any way of getting it to follow the screen position of the subcomped null instead? -

It’s probably going to be something like this:
p = comp(“Null 1 Comp 1”).layer(“Null 1”).transform.position;
L = thisComp.layer(“Null 1 Comp 1”);
L.toComp(p)Dan
