Parent-Child Compositing Confusion
OK – I thought I understood the parent-child thing, but I guess not. Here’s my scenario:
I shot some green screen footage (track 1) and keyed it over a background image (track 2) – works fine. I then made track 2 a child of track 1 and added some track motion to track 1. I EXPECTED the background now to also follow the track motion and everything to fly around together, but no such luck – just track 1 moves over the BG.
How can I do a green screen key over a BG and have it ALL do track motion together? What am I missing here?

I think what you need is to insert a new track above 1 so:
Track 1 – parent
Track 2 – child, green screen
Track 3 – child, backgroundand add the parent motion to Track 1.

Nope – not working for me – unless I’m doing something else wrong – any other ideas anyone?

Can you post a Vegas screenshot?
You probably should have no Track Motion in tracks 2 and 3.
Tracks 2 and 3 are both children of Track 1.
Track 1 should have parent motion.Are your tracks similar to ones in this tutorial:

Ah … OK ….. I see the issue. I was trying to use “Track motion” on the parent track instead of “parent motion”, which i didn’t even know existed until you pointed it out. THANKS!
BTW – I didn’t even need the extra blank parent track – my original set-up worked fine.
