PAR problem
I’ve got a problem with pixel aspect ratio when I render HD videos using Vegas Platinum 10. The source material is 720p, 24fps, h.264 (from a Canon G12), and I’m rendering with Sony AVC to 1280×720 mp4. The Project Properties are set to 1280×720 with a 1.0 PAR; the Render settings are also set to 1280×720 with a 1.0 PAR. However, the render ends up with a 1.33 PAR—the aspect ratio is 2.36 instead of 1.77. Indeed, when I view the rendered video in Vegas, WMP, or VLC, the image is stretched horizontally. (For what it’s worth, the renders play correctly in QuickTime.)
I don’t have this problem with the MainConcept codec; nor do I have it when I render standard def video using Sony AVC. What have I missed?
