  • Pan/Crop vs. Track Motion question

    Hello all,

I am looking to add a specific pan/crop 16:9 look for an entire timeline. Is there a way to do this using track motion? I try to crop to a 16:9 look however I cannot keep the aspect ratio. I am forced to add the pan/crop effect to each clip to stay consistent. There has to be an easier way…

    Thanks.

yep, have to use pan/crop -am assuming you have applied it to one clip, then copy/paste attributes to all other events you select

alternative: create a letterbox graphic with black bars & alpha middle area, and place on track above current media – find it sometimes is easiest option, esp if certain clips already have pan/crop for other reasons

no doubt someone will give you more options

A specific Pan/Crop preset could also be applied via a script. However, I’d still recommend a mask on the top track instead if it must apply to the entire project.

Open the Pan/Crop for a clip. On the top it will say: “UNTITLED”. Open up that box and you will find 16×9, 4×3 and others. Just choose 16×9 and the the entire clip wiil be cropped to 16×9.
