Pan/crop tool – Render is very flickery on movement.
I’m using the pan crop tool to rotate a clip and zoom into it a little.
When I render this out it doesn’t look quite right. Kind of artifacting, or
strobing, flickering on movement.It looks like it’s rendering frames and not fields. I checked the render options
and it’s definately rendering lower field first (PAL DV).SO what could the problem be?

Try rendering at BEST and add Reduce Interlace Flicker.

Also tried rendering in After Effects with the same result. No different…
Wish I knew what is causing that, I’ve had that problem since day one and never really addressed it. Just accepted it except this time I can’t cause the client is super fussy.

Mabey you could try adding a little motion blur in either application and see if that helps smooth things any.

I have seen this effect too. If there is some zoom or tilt on the pan/crop, movement gets jaggy. ( we used to call it venetian blind effect in the old analogue days).
I would welcome a tried-n-tested setting for zooms/tilts in pan & crop which compensates movement.
