Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Pan/Crop action not being linear

  • Pan/Crop action not being linear

This is a bit hard to explain, but I will try my best.

I shrink a video (using Pan/Crop) to 1/4 of it full size and position it in the lower right quardrant of the screen. On the next keyframe, I make it full size again. The resulting action is that the video would “grow” from the lower right corner of the screen to full screen.

However, the “growh” does not seem to progress in a linear fashion but takes a weird curved path that first pushes the video out of the screen slightly and then brings it back in to complete the movement.

How can I make the movement linear?

    Thanks,
    Tim

On each keyframe, change the “Smoothness” setting to ZERO. The default of 100 will cause it to ease in/out of the keyframes.

Thank you, Ed. Don’t know why, but I waited 3 years to ask this question. It’s better late than never. Thank you again. Now, is there a way to make the smoothness default value to 0%?

Unfortunately, no. But if you change the first keyframe to zero before adding the additional keyframes, all the rest will be at 0 when they are added.
