  • PANASONIC TM700 and SONY EX1 sequence codec?

Posted by Thanos Papadopoulos on July 28, 2012 at 12:03 pm

I have some shooting with two cameras, PANASONIC TM700 and SONY EX1. I plan to use Quicktime files in the XDCAM codec for FCP7 to work with (I need files as small as I can without any loss in quality) and prores 422 files for PANASONIC TM700 (I guess I should go with 422 and not 422Lt?). But my basic camera (with most of the clips) is Sony with XDCAM codec files. So I’m wondering if I should match my timeline with the XDCAM files and render to
    a)xdcam files?
    b)prores 422?
c)prores proxy(and when I finish, throw the render files and render to 422HQ and then export?
d)or to match my time line with prores 422 files and render also to proress 422?

So, any suggestions for a workflow with those two cameras?

Convert the PANA stuff to Prores 422 and conform the sequence to that footage. The EX stuff will work well on sequence. Set “Render ALL the YUV material in High Precision”.
