December 31, 2010 at 6:30 amFor the GH2 sold in Japan, the functions on all the physical dials of the camera itself are in english, not Japanese, and you are able to set the electronic screen menus to english in one of the setup settings (it has option for several languages). You can download the english version of the user manual off their website as well (link below). I’m an American living in China and am about to order this camera out of japan so have been researching this thoroughly. The only question I still have is it covered under an international warranty if purchased in Japan but since I live in asia not a big deal.
Here is the link to the english language manual – https://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/LUMIX+Digital+Cameras/G+Micro+System/DMC-GH2/Manuals/5980084/index.html?view=&angle=2
and a nice selection of photos by japanese reviewer

January 4, 2011 at 2:37 amI just bought a GH2 in Tokyo 2 days ago and can confirm you CANNOT change the menu’s to english. The language change menu item is missing. However I was able to download the english manual on pdf and used this to setup. Waiting with baited breath a release of a hack for the camera….

January 4, 2011 at 2:58 pmBought The GH2 on line, I got the English ver. Cause I never did the hack before so I thought it’ll be difficult, but it seems that I saved about 200$ because the Japanese yen is stronger than the dollar there for 1500 USD is chapped than buying in japan on top of all that it\’s in Eng menu
Thanks guys for the support!!
And if any body here in Japan and like to hook up for some film shooting drop me a line!Sala

January 5, 2011 at 12:36 amYikes! How stupid is that – they must be trying to hinder gray market sales by not including it. I was about to order one here in China on TaoBao but they are all shipped from Japan as it hasn’t been officially launched here yet. Instead am picking one up in Hong Kong next week.

December 1, 2011 at 3:48 amHello Mike,
I’m about to order a GH2 from Hon Kong and I saw your post.
Did you got your camera?
Does record 25/50 fps?
Thanks for your help,
Rafael
