I am shooting with the new panasonic hpx 3000. Currently the frame rate is 24p (not 24pA) over 60i. However, final cut pro is recognizing it as 29.97 on a 30frame timeline. Is this correct or do I need to do some sort of telecine?

Yes, your footage is 24p with 3:2 pulldown. If you shot 24pA, you could remove the pulldown on capture, as of now you have to go to Cinema Tools to remove the pulldown.

Did you shoot AVC or P2? How’s it look?

shot on P2, apparently ACV is not avaiable yet. so I should go to Cine tools and do a pull down? does it make sense to change my capture method to 24pA, or continue shooting 24p?

If you need to work @ 23.98, 24pA would be a lot easier. If you can edit @ 29.97, 24p is just fine.

Yes, you need to go to Cinema Tools and do a rev telecine.

so I should probably do the reverse telecine before I edit the clips, as opposed to afterwards.
