Well, you do know that Avid doesn’t do 4K yet, right? So you might be able to AMA in the footage…but it won’t be 4K. Largest project you can have is 1080.

    Right, I’m working with 1080p.

iPhoto will recognize it, but not Avid. Huh.

I see that it shoots MOV files as H.264…and MP4 as H.264…as well as AVCHD (don’t shoot that format…first off, it’s SD, second off, AVCHD sucks). The H.264 files should AMA fine. You’ll have to AMA via FILES, not AMA VOLUME…as there is no AMA plugin for this camera that I can find.

You can’t AMA LINK to the individual files? Try the Panasonic plugin…

Whoops, sorry. The camera does record AVCHD in an SD format…but it does in HD as well. The format still sucks.

that’s just silly 😀 The GH4’s SD is MP4. But I do agree… AVCHD blows

    Hi guys,

I tried using the link to AMA file then transcode workflow but I am having serious issues with importing/transcoding.

Until now I have used Canon T5i .Mov H264 files and never had a problem importing. But I just got the Panasonic GH4 and it is a nightmare, if I set more than one file to import/transcode, it will freeze and crash the Avid.

So far I can only import files one a time, and it stills crashes some times. It is extremely time consuming and frustrating.

I was wondering, am I the only one having problems importing/transcoding GH4 files?

    I have GH4 mov h264 1080 29.97 clips. On a 29.97 timeline.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Nicolas
