Assuming the one I’ve found is in decent shape, what are the pros and cons of this monitor? At 800 lines, can it truly be HD? This one has an SDI and a video car in two of the 3 available slots, other than that, a good box?

    Have a wonderful day.

[Chris Poisson] “At 800 lines, can it truly be HD?”

Yep, that’s what our Sony PVM’s are. 800 or 850 lines. They display crisp HD.

That exact monitor is used on the set of a few TV shows I’ve worked with and it’s outstanding. Really dark blacks.

    hi chris-

i have one and i very much like it. is it a cinetal, no. but it doesn’t have a cinetal price either.

i use mine in the field and in post. my favorite thing about it is the waveform. it gives me pretty good information, especially when checking against my FCP scopes and when shooting out in the field. i like the two SDI ins as well. i put one for direct out of my KONA card and the other for tape-out.

guess you could say, it’s been a good value for me.

    Hey Eric,

Do you know where I can get a component card for this thing?

Do you race road or mountain bike or both?

    Have a wonderful day.

    hi chris-

you don’t need a component card, it has YRB in/out. also the 17″ model has a 4-pin XLR connector on the back so you can use a v-mount/anton bauer battery in the field.

racing was on the road and velodrome… the MTB was for fun!

all the best and good luck with whatever monitor you choose!

    Hi Eric,

Do me a favor will you? Please go here and read the specs. It clearly states that for component in this monitor needs one of 3 cards. Are you sure yours is the same monitor?

    Thanks!

Track, you lucky dog, I used to ride in Balboa Park when I lived in San Diego, really miss that. Used to ride on Kissena way back when, that was fun too!

    Have a wonderful day.

D’oh! sorry, i was referring to the LCD 17″.

    https://www.abelcine.com/store/product.php?productid=11079&cat=0&page=7

so i guess a component card would be necessary. as far as finding one, maybe ebay or abelcine might have an idea. i didn’t know panny was still making the CRT model. i thought they had gone the sony route to LCD only.

as far as the track goes, we have 4 velodromes within 150 miles of eachother. one in seattle, one in portland and two in the vancouver, bc area. i do miss it… since i stopped racing i weigh as much as an old RCA studio camera w/the pedestal!

if you can, get back on the track (or road) it’s good for ya’!

    good luck finding the card!

I thought that was what you have. Oh well. The one I’m looking at is discontinued, it’s used, they don’t do CRTs anymore. But it looks good. Need to find the card tho.

No track around here anywhere, I still ride road and run a lot too. Pretty good shape for my age.

    Thanks for your help.

    Have a wonderful day.

    chris-

you might want to try CML(post), someone there might have an idea on where to find a component card.

glad to hear you’re riding… i’m trying to get back on the bike.

all the best & good luck,

    eric
