While loading DVCPRO HD into FCP via a rented Panasonic AJ1200A, I could not get the machine to shuttle any faster than 4x. The rental house claims that as long as you use either the firewire or serial port options to control the device, this is normal. I say “Can’t be”. Can it?

Anyone shuttling within FCP any faster?

    Thanks,

Dig through the menus and play with the max shuttle speed.

You can most definitely go faster.

I have to ask, but you are hitting j (rewind) or l (ff) multiple times, correct? With the mouse (not the keyboard) hit stop and then hit rewind of ff.

Yes, I have mastered the JKL long ago. Do you have experience with shuttling this deck or are you assuming that it SHOULD go faster? I would assume that as well, but it is proving different. We will have the deck in again next week so I’ll experiment some more.

    Thanks for your insight,
