    The Panasonic AJ-PCD20P Card Reader.

Am I misunderstanding something or isn’t this just a simple passive card reader?

Can anyone explain why it costs what it does (instead of a quarter of that)?

Doesn’t it seem like there should be a 2 slot version of this for around $200?

It might be pricey, but it’s the fastest, most reliable card reader I have used and it isn’t exactly a passive device.

After installing the drivers for it actually shows you which card is in what slot on your desktop (handy if you have a bunch of ‘no name’ cards on a mac) and it allows for mulitple downloads simlutanuously without total system failure. It is great for multicamera shoots. You will know right where the money went when you use it.

Jeremy, that does help. Glad that it offers a bit of value add.

No worries. The thing just works and works very well. A bit of sticker shock, but we haven’t looked back since we got it. If you are shotting with any camera that has more than two slots, it’s a no brainer. If you couple it with Shotput Pro, it’s very very sweet.
