I load my minidv and dvcam tape from a Panasonic AG-DV2500 vtr. When our original stock is SONY dvcam tape, we find we get quite a bit of drop out unless we clean the heads at least after every session. I worry about damage to my original. I am told that this is common, and we should be using a SONY DV VTR, but the least expensoive SONY is twice the Panasonic price. Has anyone else had this probnlem?

I have a brand new, in the box, DSR-11 that we’ll sell for $1650.

Panasonic and Sony use different lubrication systems in their tape. It’s best to try to stick to one brand if at all possible. Probably better in the long run if your tape and deck brands match. Makes it difficult a difficult choice if you own a DVX100a and a DSR-11, though.
