Does anyone know if the Panasonic consumer model 1080p 50″ plasma PRO-FHD1 is okay to use as an HD studio monitor? It would be a replacement to a HDLink driving a Dell 2405, though I may use the HDLink with the Plasma.

Fine for client reference. NG for grading.

Most brand new consumer displays are probably good enough for color grading HD. They all have a greater luma and chroma range than pro LCD monitors of the recent past. The problem is you would have to have it professionally calibrated with a colorimeter before you could trust it. And even after that it may not retain the calibrated state after many hours of use.
