And why do you keep calling it the Pana200? That sounds like a vacuum cleaner or some futuristic auto from the ’50s. It’s the HVX200. For someone into raw stats and numbers you should get it right.

[jiri vrozina] “I just find it amazing if I ask on 30th of December about CCD,I am getting no answers.”

It is only Dec 29th here in the US and the camera has just being released today.

Panasonic has not released the CCD info, other than to say that it is a 1080p60 imager and that they (like everyone else) are using offsets to increase the detail.
There are numerous examples of the content available online DVXUSER.com is a good place to start.

It is not a 2/3″ interlaced CCD, the HVX200 uses a 1/3″ progressive CCD
Your results will vary with user experience and abilities.
    Opinions vary will too,
If you are used to working in HDV or with a Full Size HD camera you may see a difference from what you have worked with before.

Remember that If you are not working on a truly HD capable monitor for preview it will never be a fare analysis. VHS even looks good on an cheap display.

Jiri is right, the lack of spec of the ccd is an novel and interesting state of affairs.

How many are buying this camera without knowning the tech spec of the ccd?

    Everyone.

Masterfull marketing that has not appeared to have affected the first wave of buyers at least.

[Michael Brennan] “Masterfull marketing that has not appeared to have affected the first wave of buyers at least.”

Why would it? Panasonic has far too much to lose to do something as self-destructive as some here imply. They have made huge strides in the camera marketplace over the past few years. They’d have to have utter (udder?) morons at the wheel to take what they have acheived over the last few years and trash it by doing something that would hurt their buyers. Considering that they have given the market an under-$10,000 camera that does many of the features of $60,000 and up camera, I have no doubt that a camera like this will have compromises — but will they be so egregious that they will keep buyers away? I doubt it.

    That’s my thought on things.

    Best regards,

I’ve downloaded both 1080i and 720p footage from Kaku Ito’s web site in Japan that was shot with a production model received on December 29th.

Looks fabulous — mostly action footage of a bicycle shot from a bicyle.

I even encode a DVD to see how the footage translates to a DVD.

    Again, it look fabulous.

Just let the pictures do the talking, for most of us it’s the most important thing, not the tech specs.

The next few weeks will give us an answer to the question I suspect.
