Pan & Zoom Still Image Size
In a lot of the posts, if you are making a slideshow of still images in Final Cut Pro it seems best to use the Photoshop preset for the right pixel aspect ratio which I have done. This is an NTSC DV project so i used 720×480 72ppi with D1/DVNTSC (0.9) Pixel Aspect Ratio. But, to zoom everyone says use 1440×960 so you have some pixels to zoom into. I did that by modifying the vertical and horizontal numbers in the same Photoshop preset but when the still image is imported into FCP, it looks squished and the Item Properties shows square pixels. Any idea what I am doing wrong and what I need to do to get the larger-sized image to look right in FCP so I can zoom in on it?

Is the image already 1440X960 before it’s brought into photoshop to correct the pixel aspect ratio? If it is, there’s no need to open a preset photoshop document. Just open the image in photoshop then go to Image>Pixel Aspect Ratio> (choose the correct option)

Yes, FC expect Square pixels from PhotoShop, so as Robert says, just check the correct pixels aspect in the FC Browser before dragging the stills to the time-line.

Thanks for your advice. As I understand it, if i have the right pixel dimensions and square pixels in Photoshop FCP will accept it and have it correctly proportioned. I will try that.
The one other thing that I’ve noticed is that the color space seems to matter. I work in Adobe RGB in Photoshop but converting to sRGB seems to produce the best video coloration. Are there preferred color spaces for FCP?
