I have an editor who is applying the pan and zoom effect and upon rendering, it is all black. When he goes to reimport the image, Avid give a message about lack of memory. I had him reboot the computer (which was rebooted in the morning when he came in) and he was able to reload the image and render it.

Is there any reason that this might have happened or is this just something fluky that maybe a restart took care of?

    Thanks–Mike

Pan and Zoom sucks up your RAM resources rather quickly. If I’m using P&Z, I set my keyframes, watch it to make sure I like it, then render it. This way Avid references the Render file instead of loading and holding the image in RAM. Less problems that way.

A reboot typically solves it, or even just shutting down the software and starting it again. There’s also a Clear Memory option in your Project Window, under the Usage tab I think. I don’t how well it works–I just render or reboot.

    Michael.
