    Hi,

My friend has shot a mini documentary on a PAL camera but when he imported it into his old premier 6 he made the project NTSC. He has asked me to help but I am not sure what to do.

Ive changed the project settings to PAL etc but it still leaves horrible field lines across the video and when the camera moves a lot it is nigh unwatchable.

Is there a way to rectify this problem wihtouh recapturing and editing. I have tried frame blend in afx and importing and exporting differnt field orders using Avid but still no luck.

    Thanks

I’m taking it he no longer wants an NTSC project / NTSC output?

If he used firewire capture the footage will be (should be) unaffected and should play back normally in a native (PAL) timeline.

If it was not firewire DV capture, he or you may have to recapture the footage using the batch capture facilities, and link a project to the new files.

What version of Premiere is he using?

Mike_S is right, a firewire capture would not convert your PAL to NTSC so your footage should be fine. Close your project and delete all your preview files (dont use the delete preview inside premiere). Open the project and skip all preview files. Now that all the preview files are gone, save that project and close it. Make a new PAL project and IMPORT your previous project to the new PAL project. Drag a footage/video clip to the timeline and play it. The footage should play fine and there should be no red line (unrendered clips indicator) in the timeline. Make sure to monitor with a PAL system. You can now open your sequence or project inthis PAL project.

    Hope that helps…
