  • PAL to NTSC, DVD Regions????

    Hi,
I made and edited a short film on PAL DVCAM, and then built a PAL DVD in Encore. If I burn the DVD as a region free DVD would it play on American (region 1) with no problems, or do I need to set up the project as an NTSC? Is there a way of re-encoding, in Encore, the PAL M2V into a NTSC M2V? Any help on how to make a working region 1 DVD, that will play in American DVD players, is greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    Martin Banks

The region setting is not going to be a big issue, but NTSC is. You need to start a new project using NTSC settings. You can then import your assets and set them to transcode using an NTSC setting. (Note- I’ve never tried this with Encore. In theory it should work fine, but you should run a test. If there are problems, simply re-export your original assets from your NLE using NTSC settings there.)
