I have PAL Videos 720×576 that I need to encode to meet specs for different platforms. I’m having trouble maintaining those dimensions with a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. Anyone know how to fix this problem? These are the specs I need to encode to:
    Apple ProRes
    720×576 (4:3) – 12:11 PAR Digital (1.09 Standard PAL) or
    720×576 (16:9) – 16:11 PAR Digital (1.45) (Widescreen PAL)

I have FCP 7, X, and Adobe Suite, Movavi Encoder, MPEG Streamclip. No AVID 🙁
I’ve tried all of those and can’t figure it out.
I need to maintain a 720×576 dimension in QT 7 and 4:3 or 16:9 ratio in Media Info.

    Anyone can help with this?

If encoding files to be viewed online/on computers, many software players do not respect the actual pixel aspect ratio (PAR) of the file and just assume square pixels (1.0 PAR). For PAL Widescreen, encode at 1024×576 with 1.0 PAR and that will provide correct 16:9 playback.

    Thanks

Hey Jeff, thanks for your quick response. I need to get 720×576…I can’t deliver a 1024×576.

The resolution doesn’t change but the pixel aspect ratio does. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_aspect_ratio

Tero, are you saying it’s impossible to reach these specs: 720×576 4:3 or 16:9?
This is what I’m thinking but not sure why delivery specs from SONY would be so impossible.
