PAL DVD to NTSC
Posted by Don Smith on November 29, 2007 at 4:05 pmCan Vegas import a PAL DVD and convert it to NTSC? How?
What about a PAL VHS tape? Anyway you could import that into Vegas and convert to NTSC?

November 29, 2007 at 5:38 pmI would try File>Import>DVD disk and re-render the file as NTSC mpg2 and burn a DVD. However, be aware that you will end up with twice compressed video.

November 29, 2007 at 5:50 pmThanks, Mary. I already figured that I could “try” that, and that definitely seems the way you would do it. I’ve done lots of importing of DVD’s, editing, and re-rendering to a new DVD, so I know about the quality hit…which really doesn’t seem to be that bad. However, what I really want to know is whether this actually WILL work and can it be done. I don’t want to tell a customer that I can definitely do this and then try and discover that Vegas just can’t make the PAL to NTSC conversion. Anyone know for sure that this will work?

November 29, 2007 at 11:19 pmShould have done this first (duh) but it is very clearly spelled out in V8pro’s help files. Just import and convert. Pretty simple.
