Believe me, I’ve searched the archives most of the day trying to figure out how best to get this done. Downloaded nattress plugin and everything. I know the instructions are out there somewhere but, after a full day of exploring, I’m growing weary. I just dragged the video_ts from the dvd onto the fcp timeline (couldn’t do that with the audio). Not sure how else to do it. Also read that Compressor is capable of the conversion but couldn’t seek out the answers in its help screens. Eyes glazing over as I type… Applied the plugin, per instructions and after almost three hours for what I thought would be a success. Wrong!

If anyone out there would take pity on a non-deserving newbie on this issue (and many others, btw) please point me in the right (correct) direction to make the client happy I would be delighted to send you a genuine Roswell alien, also known as a ‘Roswailien’ :0).

    Thank you and good night…

Here’s the way I believe the work-flow would run:

    1. Rip the PAL DVD to a PAL QuickTime clip with DVDxDV.com [not free, but great] or MPEG-streamclip [free, also good].

    2. Bring the PAL QT clip into FCP.

    3. Use Nattress Standards Converter to convert the clip to NTSC [see Nattress.com for instructions]

    4. Import your new NTSC clip into your DVD program, and burn it as an NTSC DVD.

    5. Grab a cup of coffee.

    6. Enjoy.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best,

    Wayne

    Good morning.

Thank you all for your input. I’ll get busy today with my trusty search engine once more, this time looking for ‘how to rip pal dvd’s’

Have a great day (supposed to nick the century mark here).

Did you not read and or understand my step # 1 above?

    Hi Wayne,

Yes, I did go to the site and thought about getting the plugin or upgrading to high speed internet (not an early adopter by any means). Then I saw the post about the free ‘mac the ripper’ and got that plus the high speed. Call me greedy but waiting to upload, download, on/offload is making my hair turn a shiny shade of gray. So much so that me espousa has begun weekly rituals of coloring my hair with some foul smelling gunk while I sit here and tap away…

So thank you very much for your suggestions and when that “PAYING CLIENT” comes a knocking I will definately go for the gusto with that plugin…

Now, how are you about convincing mac’s and pc’s to talk with one another??

    Hi again Wayne,

How can I lift the audio from the pal dvd and sync it up with the video once it renders?
