I sent out a Videotape master to be converted to PAL DVD for showing in the UK. My question is that the PAL DVD seems to play like any other DVD on either my Mac G4 or my powebook. Yet in my Phillips DVD recorder, it flickers, but plays.

For the heck of it, I burned a copy of the PAL DVD on my Mac G4 using Toast. It plays like the original.

My question is do Macs play multistandard DVDs? Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Greg,

All computers will playback NTSC and PAL DVDs. However, see what happens if you put a PAL DVD into your set top DVD player and try to watch it on an NTSC TV or broadcast monitor…
